The Endangered Wildlife Trust in collaboration with Browns of
Rivonia held a highly successful charity auction for eighty
people on Tuesday 20 February.
Over R55 000 was raised following the auction
of eight exclusive lots including a pack of six bottles of Rupert
and Rothschild Baron Edmond which fetched a whopping R10 000,
as well as a Middelvlei Pinotage 5 litre magnum which was sold
for R5 000. Organisers of the event were pleasantly surprised
by the enormous generosity of the guests which was more than
likely fuelled by the steady supply of wines donated by Tokara,
Middelvlei, Haut Espoir and Rupert and Rothschild. “We
are extremely happy with the funds that were raised”,
said EWT Fundraising Manager Samantha Brown. She added that
she cannot thank the Browns team enough for their hard work
and donations which no doubt ensured the success of the evening.
“We would like to thank Browns for extending our membership
base by putting us in contact with a new set of valuable corporates”
said Samantha Brown. The evening was hosted by charismatic radio
personality Tony Blewitt whose humorous antics kept the guests
well entertained.
The highest bidder of the evening was Francis
Garrard who single-handedly bid R15 700 for three separate auction
lots. Marketing Manager at Browns Lara Edwards said Browns is
always willing to jump at the opportunity to support worthy
causes such as those presented by the Endangered Wildlife Trust.
Browns has previously hosted a successful wine auction for the
Red Cross and plans to host another in May.
