A restaurant is nothing without good food, and to make the food at Browns unforgettable, we have a chef that is innovative, creative and utterly brilliant. We have decided that all this brilliance can not be hidden and from now on, we will be sharing it with you.

Marbled Chocolate Malva Pudding Recipe

Marbled Chocolate Malva Pudding
(Dessert - Serves 6)

 

Ingredients

1 cup of milk
1 tsp of baking powder
1 cup of flour
1 tsp of bicarbonate of soda
1/2 a cup of sugar
1 egg
1 tsp apricot jam
A pinch of salt
250g butter
3 squares of white chocolate
3 squares of dark chocolate

 

Method

In a bowl, beat the egg & sugar together, add the jam and the melted butter. Mix the milk &
bicarbonate of soda together and add to the mixture. Stir in the flour & baking powder.
Beat the mixture until smooth. Grease an oven dish (20cm x 30cm), halve the chocolate squares
and place them in the bottom of the dish. Pour the mixture over the chocolate.
Bake in a preheated oven for 30 minutes.

For the sauce:
Mix 1/2 a cup of cream, 1/2 a cup of milk, 1 cup of sugar, 1/2 a cup of water, 1/2 a cup of butter,
1 tot of Amarula & 1 tot of Cognac/Brandy in a saucepan on low heat for a few minutes.

The final presentation:
Cut the malva pudding into squares, place on a plate and drizzle the sauce around it. Garnish
with some fresh strawberries & mint.
